The Role of Secretary General and Spokesman of Mr Pho Quoc Van.
PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT
When our Xây Dựng and Phát Triển Team started to run for Executive Committee 2022-25 election, we think it’s time to change the way of operating the Executive Committee, so that all major and important decisions are unanimously agreed upon of the whole Committee and each member is responsible for the activity assigned. That’s why the Xây Dựng and Phát Triển Team has launched the operating principle “collective leadership, individual accountability”.
I invited Mr Pho Quoc Van to join the Team as General Secretary and Spokesman and he accepted this role for the following reasons:
- Because our community is in need of restructuring, his knowledge and professional experience are very suitable for our Team’s “building and developing” plan. In addition, he is a new person so he is not influenced by any interest group, which is very favourable for the reform of the VCA-VIC;
- He knows nothing about disputes related to the Vietnamese Australian Cultural Centre and Museum and the Vietnamese Museum Australia Ltd (VMA Ltd). So he will be more objective when accepting responsibility to support the Review Panel we planned to establish; and
- He has the ability to speak in public clearly in both Vietnamese and English.
During two election debates in Springvale and the Vietnamese Community Centre on September 10 and 11, 2022, I have repeatedly introduced to the community that Mr Van will be the General Secretary and the Spokesman if our Team will be elected and we have publicised our reform policy.
After the election, some persons who had previously openly campaigned for the Phục Hồi and Phát Triển Team began to attack Mr Pho Quoc Van and me about Mr Van’s role. What they slandered and misrepresented is that Mr Van him selves claimed these positions. Then recently, these persons participated in organising a baseless campaign of smearing and defamation of VCA-VIC Executive Committee members and volunteers.
Article 6.5.1.iv of the VCA-Vic Constitution on “the role of President” clearly states that the President only signs important documents.
The Executive Committee 2022-25 absolutely abides by the Constitution and all decisions have been approved by the members. The discussion and adoption of important decisions are attended by the Advisor and Prudential Council.
We request the mentioned persons to stop spreading slanderous and misrepresenting, smearing and defamation of the VCA-Vic Executive Committee members and volunteers.
For the Executive Committee,
Duy Quang Nguyễn
President
