Supporting everyone’s participation in the 2026 Census

With the 2026 Census just four weeks away, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is reminding the Vietnamese community of how they can get help to complete their Census.

“Census night is on Tuesday 11 August, and it’s important that our Vietnamese community knows what support is available to help them participate, ” Cuc Nguyen, Census multilingual spokesperson, says.
“You can complete the Census online, by paper or with help. Whether you are a new migrant completing the Census for the first time or you’ve done it before, you can access translated information materials, as well as support in-person or over the phone.”
To support everyone in Australia to participate in the 2026 Census confidently, the ABS provides assistance in a range of ways.

Why complete the Census?
Every answer matters in the Census, as Census data is used to inform decisions about transport, schools, health care, infrastructure and business. It also helps plan local services for individuals, families and communities.
Across the country, Census data is used to help meet the needs of multicultural communities. For instance, workplace safety organisations use Census data to deliver targeted health and safety information to migrant workers.
The Census benefits all individuals in Australia by helping us understand what we need now and into the future.
