URGENT – INVITATION TO ATTEND THE DEMONSTRATION FOR FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS FOR VIETNAM Time: 10:30 a.m., September 24, 2026 Location: In front of the entrance to Rideau Hall, Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear fellow Vietnamese compatriots from the Vietnamese communities in Canada,

The Federation of Vietnamese Associations of Canada respectfully invites associations, religious organizations, social organizations, political organizations, and all Vietnamese compatriots in Canada to attend the demonstration to be held in Ottawa on September 24, 2026.

The demonstration is an occasion for participants to publicly express their views and aspirations concerning freedom, democracy, human rights, religious freedom, freedom of expression, and the civil rights of the people of Vietnam.

Issues to Be Raised by the Organizers

The organizers intend to present and call attention to the following issues:

Respect for the fundamental freedoms, democracy, and human rights of the people of Vietnam.
End actions that the organizers consider to be repression against those who peacefully express their political views.
Bring attention to the cases of those currently detained in connection with political or religious activities or the expression of political views, according to the organizers’ perspective.
Guarantee the rights to freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and fundamental civil rights.
Call upon the international community to continue paying attention to the situation of freedom and human rights in Vietnam.
Work toward a future Vietnam that respects human dignity, the rule of law, fundamental freedoms, and the right of the people to participate in determining the future of their country.

Spirit of Participation

The organizers respectfully ask all participants to maintain the following spirit:

Peaceful and non-violent;
Respect for Canadian law;
Respect for the dignity and safety of everyone;
Respect for people with differing views;
No incitement, no violence, and no conduct that causes public disorder.

Differences in views, organizations, or methods of action should not become causes of division within the community.

Each participant may express their views peacefully, responsibly, and respectfully toward others. Banners, posters, and messages should be presented in a concise and clear manner, without being insulting or inflammatory, and should focus on the values that participants wish to express.

An Invitation to Vietnamese Compatriots Across Canada

The organizers respectfully invite Vietnamese compatriots from all provinces, together with Vietnamese associations, religious organizations, and Vietnamese communities throughout Canada, to attend and express their views in a spirit of solidarity, peacefulness, discipline, and responsibility.

Fellow compatriots may bring the Flag of the Republic of Vietnam, banners, and posters with clear and peaceful messages addressing issues of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
