Resignation from some members of the current Management Subcommittee of the Community Activity Centre and using the name “Community Activity Centre”.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Melbourne, 15 March 2023

On March 11, 2023, the Executive Committee received an email informing the resignation from some members of the current Management Subcommittee of the Community Activity Centre” sent by Ms Be Ha. Although the Executive Committee don’t agree with the given reasons given but we officially accept the resignations of the following members: Mr Tran Dinh, Mrs Ha Thi Be, Mr Tran Thanh, Mr Bui Xuan Cuong and Mr Tran Huy Bao. We appreciate their services and will arrange for the handover of the Community Activity Centre’s documentation and assets in their possession.

The Executive Committee will establish a provisional subcommittee to run the centre’s activities until the Annual General Meeting.

Also, we would like to take this opportunity to provide some points taken from the VCA-VIC Constitution in relation to the Community Activity Centre to affirm that “Đền Thờ Quốc Tổ” is not included at all. But its common usage has created a misunderstanding that the centre is only a place to worship, instead of a place for our community activities, including worshipping.

1/. Chapter I – VCA-VIC Objectives, Article 5.7 indicates that “construct and develop a Community Activity Centre”.

2/. Chapter V – Vietnamese Culture and Heritage Centre, (90 Knight Avenue, North Sunshine), Article 17 describes its purposes:

  • Article 17.2. “Being a Centre of activities for Vietnamese Australians, especially in art and culture”; and
  • Article 17.3. “Part of the Centre is dedicated as a place of worshipping of the National Vietnamese Ancestors, Vietnamese heroes and heroines who have sacrificed their lives in protecting and developing Viet Nam”.

Yours sincerely,

For the Executive Committee,

Mr Duy Quang Nguyen

President
