Census night is nearly here: Every answer matters

By now, most households will have received a letter in their mailbox with instructions on how to complete the Census. Some households may have received a paper form or a visit from a Census Field Officer.
Cuc Nguyen, Census multilingual spokesperson, says if you know where you will be on Tuesday 11 August, you can complete your Census early.
“While many households have completed their Census already, we’re urging those who haven’t to do so as soon as possible,” Cuc says.
“You don’t have to wait until Census night.”
Everyone in Australia on Census night must be included on a Census form. This includes international students, visitors and visa holders.
Data from the Census is used to build a picture of what communities across Australia need. It can help inform planning for roads, schools, and local services for individuals, families and communities.
“By participating, we can contribute to an accurate snapshot of multicultural Australia, who we are, the languages we speak, and how we live,” Cuc says.
“For those who need it, additional support is available in-person, online and over the phone.
“This includes translated information materials and the option to speak to someone in Vietnamese through the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.”
The Census takes the average household 30 mins to complete.
By law, your information must be kept secure, and it cannot be released in a way that is likely to identify you, including to other government agencies.
