Melbourne: Police appeal for assistance after Asian man body located in Plenty
The body of a man found in a lake almost 2 months ago remains unidentified —with police now releasing his computer-generated portrait.
Detectives from Banyule Nillumbik Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for information from public —after a body was located in the Plenty Gorge Parklands in Plenty in October.
It is understood the unidentified man was found in Blue Lake on Tuesday 15 October about 3.40pm.
The man is perceived to be Asian —about 20-45 years of age, 172 centimetres tall, with black hair and stocky build.
He has a small scar or mark on his chest just above his right nipple.
He was wearing a grey ‘Anko’ hoodie, brown ‘Anko’ shorts, and black and white ‘New Balance’ runners.
Police have released a composite image of the man, along with images of his clothing, to assist with their enquiries.
Investigators have made extensive enquiries into identifying the man and will be conducting a further search at Blue Lake with assistance from the Water Police on 2 December.
An information caravan will also be set up in the area.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Inspector Timothy Cron said investigators had conducted DNA testing and looked at missing person reports from interstate.
“It’s very frustrating because someone will miss him, he’ll have family and friends and they’ll miss him, particularly coming up to this time of year”, he said.
Police have also considered whether he may be an international student or worker.
“But there will be people in Melbourne who will know him, who have worked with him or gone to school with him”, Cron said.
Anyone with information that may assist in identifying the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppers.com.au. (V/P)
