Man charged following death of Vietnamese woman in Fitzroy North
Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a man with murder following the death of a Vietnamese woman whose body was located at an address in Fitzroy North last month.
With assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) a 49-year-old Preston man was taken into custody around 9.30am on Friday 7 August.
He was interviewed by investigators and has since been charged with murder.
The man will be held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 8 August.
The charge follows an incident where emergency services were called to a welfare check at a home on Brooks Crescent in Fitzroy North.
A 73-year-old Fitzroy North woman was located fatally injured inside the address about 1am on Saturday, 25 July.
Police believe the parties involved were known to each other. (V/P)
