The Review Panel has completed its task to establish the Legal Sub-Committee.

PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT

An Executive Committee meeting was held at 10 am on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Vietnamese Community Office in Footscray to discuss the results and we have completed the following:

  • The Review Panel has completed its task; and
  • To establish the Legal Sub-Committee.

We wish to convey our sincere thanks to Dr Dinh Hieu and Lawyer Nguyen Tan Hai for completion of the review on the implementation of the Vietnamese Australian Cultural Centre and Museum Project in a very short time.

The Review Panel has provided a 700 –page report providing sufficient evidence proving that the Project is owned by the Vietnamese Community in Australia – Victoria Chapter (VCA-VIC), but the former Executive Committees had illegally established the Vietnamese Museum Australia Ltd (VMA) and illegally transferred all assets of the Project to the VMA company.

The Review Panel has recommended the Executive Committee to commence a legal proceeding for claiming back the Project.

To support the Executive Committee for achieving a concrete result of this court proceeding, Lawyer Nguyen Tan Hai has accepted the invitation of the Executive Committee to be the Head of the Legal Sub-Committee and Ms. Nguyen Thuy Vi, Vice President of Internal Affairs, taking on the task for coordinating with the Legal Sub-Committee. It is noted that Ms. Vi has graduated and obtained a Bachelor degree in Arts (Criminal Justice Administration).

Also upon the recommendation of the Review Sub-Committee, in the coming days the Executive Committee will establish a Legal Fund Raising Committee which aims to raise sufficient funds for the legal costs involved with this proceeding in Supreme Court of Victoria.

For the Executive Committee,

Duy Quang Nguyễn

President
