Premier Daniel Andrews is awaiting the court’s decision and has voiced his support for VCA-VIC.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
RE: Premier Daniel Andrews is awaiting the court’s decision and has voiced his support for the Vietnamese Community in Victoria (VCA-VIC).
On April 26, 2023, Premier of Victoria the Honorable Daniel Andrews was interviewed by Mr. Nguyen Hong Anh, the Editor of the online newspaper TiVi Tuan San and Lawyer Nguyen Tan Hai. Premier Daniel Andrews informed us he was advised that the VCA-VIC was starting to sue the relevant parties to reclaim the Project regarding the Vietnamese Australian Cultural Center and Museum.
Before this interview, on behalf of the VCA-VIC, Lawyer Nguyen Tan Hai met Mr. Daniel Andrews’ senior advisor. Mr. Hai has provided her with a nearly 700-page Panel Review’s Report which includes concrete evidence proving that the Project was originally owned by the VCA-VIC but the former Executive Committees had illegally established the Vietnamese Museum Australia Ltd (VMA Ltd) and illegally transferred all assets of the Project to the VMA company. Mr. Nguyen Tan Hai also explained to the senior advisor the reasons why the VCA-VIC had to initiate the lawsuit for claiming back the Project.
In this interview, Mr. Daniel Andrews informed us that he is waiting for the court’s decision but has voiced his support to the VCA-VIC.
He also said he wants the project to be completed by 2025, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the VCA-VIC, and that the funds for the Project he promised during his election campaign were already included in this year’s State budget.
At the end of this interview, Mr. Daniel Andrews stated that he wants “less lawyers and more builders” to complete the Project as soon as possible.
In our opinion, this signal is intended to allow the VMA Ltd an opportunity to self-review their actions and to return the ownership of the project to the VCA-VIC to avoid litigation.
We invite you to visit Tivi Tuan San online from minutes 18-23 to listen to the above interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvcWEwRM4yQ&t=2200s).
From the Executive Committee,
Duy Quang Nguyễn
