Footscray: Jewellery stolen during ram raid in Barkly St.


Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a ram raid in West of Melbourne this morning Friday 23/8.

It is believed three unknown offenders travelling in a black Mazda hatchback reversed the vehicle into a business on 217 Barkly Street, Footscray about 1.50am.

Two of the thieves smashed glass cabinets and stole jewellery from inside Barkly Street Pawnbrokers & Jewellers before returning to the Mazda and fleeing the scene.

Detectives have released CCTV footage of two of the unknown offenders.

They are perceived to be males of solid build and are pictured wearing all black clothing, with makeshift face coverings.

Anyone who recognises the people in the footage is urged to come forward.

The investigation remains ongoing.
