ANNOUNCEMENT: Executive Committee Personnel Changes

ANNOUNCEMENT: Executive Committee Personnel Changes

Dear Community Leaders and Members,

Following the official recognition of the 2024 Constitution by Consumer Affairs Victoria in late December 2025, Ms Vi Nguyen, Vice President of Internal Affairs of the Vietnamese Community in Victoria, advised that when she stood for election in September 2022, she had only committed to serving as Vice President of Internal Affairs for the 2022–25 term, a period of three years. As that term has now exceeded three years, she has tendered her resignation in order to devote more time to her longstanding involvement with Catholic youth activities.

Mr Nathan Tri Nguyen had similarly committed to serving the Community solely in the role of Vice President of External Affairs of the Vietnamese Community in Victoria for the three-year term of 2022–25. More recently, Mr Nathan has been frequently engaged in work overseas, which has significantly limited his ability to attend meetings, leaving him only able to assist the Executive Committee with administrative matters and from a distance. He has therefore also tendered his resignation so that the Executive Committee may restructure its membership accordingly.

Under the current 2024 Constitution, the Head of the Community Activities Centre is also a member of the Executive Committee. Accordingly, at the Executive Committee meeting held on the evening of Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at the Community Social Office, all four members of the Executive Committee resolved to:

  1. Express our sincere gratitude to Vi Nguyen and Nathan Nguyen for their considerable contributions to the Community over the past three-plus years. Both have truly grown into their roles and have worked alongside the Executive Committee to steer the Community through every challenge and difficulty, guiding it towards a bright future for our Vietnamese Community in Victoria. We wish Vi Nguyen and Nathan Nguyen every success in their future endeavours.
  2. Appoint Mr Tran Quang Thang to the role of Vice President of Internal Affairs of the Vietnamese Community in Victoria, concurrently serving as Head of the Community Activities Centre.
  3. Appoint Ms Hoang Hilary Yim Ly to the role of Vice President of External Affairs of the Vietnamese Community in Victoria.
  4. Both appointments will be formally introduced to the broader community at upcoming events.

We respectfully bring this to your attention.
