Media Release –Fighting Discrimination Together 2022

The Vietnamese Community in Australia –Victorian Chapter (VCA-VIC) is working with the Victorian Government to deliver an Anti-Racism campaign to create greater awareness of racism and Anti-Asian discrimination within the Vietnamese community in Victoria and improve the reporting of experiences of racism within the community.
The VCA-VIC is running three events called Fighting Discrimination Together and the public is invited learn more about racism, their rights and what to do when they have experienced racism.
These events will be free to attend, and will be held in:
• Footscray: Footscray Community Arts Centre – Sunday 8th of May (2pm-5pm)
• Collingwood: Collingwood Library Meeting Room – Sunday 15th of May (2pm-5pm)
• Springvale: Springvale Town Hall – Saturday 21st of May (2pm-5pm)
Each event will feature a short presentation delivered in English and Vietnamese, live role-play and a facilitated open discussion to reflect on our experiences and understand how we can help each other in the community. Please note that all patrons need to be double vaccinated in order to attend.
Catering will be provided for free for the public and additional information pamphlets will be available to take home.
Unfortunately, many members of our community still suffer from racism every day. The Fighting Discrimination Together event will help demonstrate the different ways people may experience racism, and present ways to help better support each other and stamp out racism in our community.
