RE: Special General Meeting for Voting on the Proposed Constitution 2024 of the VCA-VIC
Dear Vietnamese Community Members,
The VCA-VIC Executive Committee has the pleasure to inform you that after nine month-period since the VCA-VIC Constitution Amendments Committee was established on 28 January 2024, the Final Draft of the proposed VCA-VIC Constitution 2024 has been completed and was handed over to the Executive Committee on 22 October 2024 by the Constitution Amendments Committee.
For the purpose of passing the resolution on the Final Draft of VCA-VIC Constitution 2024, a Special General Meeting will be held for members of the Vietnamese Community in Australia, Victorian Chapter to vote on this resolution as follows:
• Date and time: Sunday 24 October 2024, from 1pm to 4pm.
• Venue: VCA-VIC Community Centre, 90 Knight Ave, Sunshine North.
• Only Vietnamese – Australian having Australian citizenship who are residents in Victoria state will be permitted to vote at the meeting.
According to Article 24 of the 2012 Constitution, the Voting of the General Meeting is only valid when the number of members attending the Meeting reaches the Quorum of more than 50 and Article 23.2 stipulates that the Final Draft Constitution 2024 must be approved by an absolute majority of 3/4 of total votes at the Meeting. The 2024 Constitution will only come into effect if the above 2 conditions are met. If any of the 2 conditions is not met then the current 2012 Constitution will continue to be applied.
