Roundtable meeting between Australian Politicians, Premier of Victoria and Vietnamese Community
We thank Victorian Premier Ben Carroll MP in acknowledging VCA-VIC’s newly elected leadership, by inviting President-Elect Thuy Dang, and Vice President-Elect Minh Le —to attend the official roundtable meeting on Monday 28th September. Alongside representatives from faith groups and leaders from many community organisations, we discussed issues of importance currently affecting our Vietnamese community in Victoria.

With Minister Paul Edbrooke MP, Minister Natalie Suleyman MP, Minister Luba Grigorovitch MP, Meng Heang Tak MP, Eden Foster MP and Lee Tarlamis MP present, constructive discussions were held on how the Victorian Government will continue to support our Vietnamese community.
Key topics raised included protection of our yellow flag, mental health in young people, aged care, family violence, gambling harm, community safety and overall community wellbeing. Particularly in our efforts to safeguard democratic values, strengthen community resilience, and ensure our communities from east to west are not seen as soft targets in dealing with drugs, violence, and intimidation.

We also thank the Premier, Ministers, and MPs for their patience as we await the official handover following the VCA-VIC elections on 28th June, in which voters supported the newly elected United for Our Community team by a margin of 226 votes. Despite this clear outcome, the former president, Duy Nguyen, has continued to delay the handover using unsubstantiated excuses, hindering our progress in protecting and improving our community.
All levels of government are now fully aware of the facts. They have assured us they will no longer acknowledge Duy Nguyen as a representative of VCA-VIC nor attend any events organised by his team. We express our sincere appreciation for this clarity and support.
