Regarding Mr. Nguyen Viet Long and the outcomes of the Unconstitutional Special General Meeting on October 21, 2023.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
RE: Regarding Mr. Nguyen Viet Long and the outcomes of the Unconstitutional Special General Meeting on October 21, 2023.
The Executive Committee of the VCA-Vic has received a Public Announcement of Mr. Tran Khanh Du, Vice President of the Advisory and Prudential Council and Ms. Hoang Kim Anh, Council Member to inform us that as of October 25, 2023 they no longer recognize Mr. Nguyen Viet Long having his role and position as President of the Council and they also do not recognize the results of the Unconstitutional Special General Meeting on October 21, 2023, organized by Mr. Nguyen Viet Long.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Long repeatedly used his role and position as President of the Council illegally, not as in accordance with the VCA-Vic Constitution.
On July 14, 2023, the Vietnamese Naval and Merchant Association in Victoria formally announced its no confidence in Mr. Long. As such, Mr. Long no longer represents an Association in the Council as stated by the VCA-Vic Constitution, therefore, Mr. Long’s role and position on the Advisory and Prudential Council should also be reconsidered.
The Executive Committee agrees with Mr. Tran Khanh Du and Ms. Hoang Kim Anh, therefore from October 25, 2023 we also not recognize Mr. Nguyen Viet Long’s role and position as President of the Council, or as a member of the Council. So, we will not collaborate with Mr. Long, we will only collaborate with other members of the Advisory and Prudential Council.
The Executive Committee maintains the position stated in the Community Public Announcement dated October 19, 2023: “The Special General Meeting on October 21, 2023 and the results of this meeting deem to be totally invalid. The Executive Committee denies the validity of the meeting, including the outcomes of the meeting. We will not respond to any of Mr. Nguyen Viet Long’s demands and Mr. Long must bear full responsibility for his actions in the past, present and future.”
The Executive Committee will convene a General Meeting in November 2023 to report on the Children Lantern Festival financial matters and to give the members of the Advisory and Prudential Council and the Executive Committee an opportunity to present the true facts to VCA-Vic members, as well as receive their feedbacks.
