Each year the joy of young children and families brings new life and energy to the time-honoured traditions of Tết Trung Thu.
As Australia’s Vietnamese community gathers for this happy celebration, may you take joy and inspiration in the traditions of sharing mooncakes, giving gifts, playing games, lighting lanterns and hanging decorations.
Just as these traditions add up to the heartbeat of a proud and ancient culture, they have also become an intrinsic part of the face of modern Australia. As you honour the traditions of the land of your heritage, you enrich the land that is your home – just as you do with your hard work, your aspirations and your love of country.
I know this year’s Tết Trung Thu gatherings will bring much happiness and delight to everyone taking part.
