The Vietnamese Museum Australia (VMA) board welcomes funding from the Victorian Government

Today the Victorian Government announced additional funding for the construction of the Vietnamese Museum Australia in Footscray.

The Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Hon. Ros Spence MP, Vietnamese Museum Australia members, volunteers and the community were today at the site location of the soon to be constructed museum with a further $2.3 million of additional funding secured. This adds to the $4.45 million already committed by the Victorian Government, bringing the total investment to $6.75 million.

“We welcome Minister Spence and the Victorian Government’s funding announcement as we continue to plan out the future construction of the museum” said Ms Tuanh Nguyen, VMA Director and Board Secretary.

“We are proud of the ongoing partnerships between the Victorian government and the Vietnamese community, and all governments across the country. It just goes to show, how far we have come as a community and how united we all are for this project to succeed.”

“The museum construction is a future generational project, a legacy project, that we as the VMA board are proud to be its custodians until it is built for the community.”

“The museum will be a place for all members of the Australian public to visit, indeed we envisage the museum will attract international visitors with interest in the history of Australia, because you cannot talk about Australia’s history without mentioning the Vietnamese community.”
