Vietnamese TET Lunar New Year Festival
The Vietnamese Community in Australia – Victoria Chapter wish to inform you about the upcoming Vietnamese “TET” Lunar New Year Festival at Footscray Park, Ballarat Road, Footscray on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of February 2024, from 11am till 10.00pm.
A Maribyrnong River Trail is closed for traffic and will be implemented from at 5.00am on Saturday 17th of February 2024, through to 5:00am on Monday 19th of February 2024 as part of the Vietnamese “Tet” Lunar New Year Festival.
The Vietnamese “TET” Lunar New Year Festival is a unique annual event held at other suburb in previous year. In 2024 Vietnamese Community in Australia – Victoria Chapter (VCA-Vic) is like to move back in Footscray Park, where is the birthplace of our event back in
48 years ago for lead up the 50th year remark of the haft of the century of the Vietnamese Refugee Settlement in Australia.
Each year, an estimated approx. 33,000 people from local council and surrounding suburbs attend the Vietnamese “TET” Lunar New Year Festival to celebrate, see displays and watch performances to celebrate lunar calendar New Year Festival. The Lunar New Year is one of the most significant cultural and spiritual events for East Asian communities throughout the world, particular the Vietnamese.
To minimise disturbances to residents. During the festival, these areas are only allowed for residents to access. If it is unnecessary, please try to avoid entering Maribyrnong River Trail during festival peak hours 11am – 10pm.
