Are you ready to vote in the 2025 federal election?

“Voting gives you a chance to have your say on the issues you care about. If you’re not enrolled, you won’t be able to vote in the 2025 federal election. Check your enrolment is current and correct to participate in this election,” Acting Electoral Commissioner Jeff Pope has said.

Enrolling to vote

  • The enrolment deadline is 8pm on Monday 7th April 2025.

You can check and update your details via the AEC website, or pick up a paper enrolment form at any AEC office. You must return your form or finish updating your details online before the enrolment deadline.

You can also call the telephone interpreter service in your preferred language on 1300 720 153 for assistance and information about how to enrol and update your details online.

Voting services

Most Australians will cast their vote this election in-person at a polling place, however some voters may be eligible to vote early or via post. Postal applications must be received by 6pm Wednesday 30th April– so act quickly to ensure enough time to receive, complete and return your ballot papers. The AEC also offers telephone voting options for people who are blind or have low vision. For full details on your voting options visit the AEC website.

In the coming weeks, a comprehensive AEC campaign will remind Australians on why it’s important to vote and inform them about how to take part in the election. This will include advertising on TV, radio, newspaper, digital and social, as well as a guide being sent to around 11.8 million households. It complements the community education we have been running over the last 6 months.

“This campaign includes information about how to participate in the federal election in 34 languages,” Mr Pope said.
