2 Suspects Arrested Following HCMC Shooting That Killed a Foreigner


The Ministry of Public Security announced it has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Police to arrest 2 suspects in connection with the shooting that killed a foreigner.

Following the shooting, Vietnamese authorities have named two men they want to speak to after Coconut Cartel senior member Lorenzo Lemalu was shot dead.

According to the announcement, professional units of the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the HCMC Police, arrested 2 suspects in connection with the shooting targeting a group of foreigners, resulting in one death and one injury in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, on the night of May 21st.

Currently, the police have not released the identities of the suspects or the cause of the incident as the investigation is ongoing. Due to the involvement of foreigners, much information remains undisclosed.

Lorenzo Lemalu was standing outside a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City when the shooter (white cap) approached.

Following the shooting, authorities identified Lang Kenny Trong Minh Do, 33, an Australian of Vietnamese descent, and John Justin White, 38, an Australian citizen, as suspects requiring questioning.

It is currently unclear whether the arrested individuals are Mr. Do and Mr. White.

Previously, on the night of May 21st, a shooting occurred on the sidewalk in Ben Thanh ward, resulting in casualties among two foreigners, one fatality and one injury. After committing the crime, the two foreign suspects fled the scene.

Immediately following the incident, the HCMC Police, in coordination with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security, launched an investigation. Through verification, the police determined that the two suspects took a taxi towards Tay Ninh province, then got out of the car in Trang Bang ward and disappeared. Using professional methods, the authorities tracked down and arrested the two suspects. (NQ)
